NO1
Collection NO1 laid the foundation for MYKITA. Fashioned from stainless steel sheets, the frames are made into a three-dimensional structure through a series of bending and folding steps, similar to the Japanese art of origami. The modern principle behind the openly displayed spiral hinge represents the design approach that has informed all subsequent MYKITA collections: the technical solution must also be an aesthetic one.

DECADES
Classic panto shapes of the Thirties, strong lines of the Sixties or the oversize forms of the Seventies and Eighties – the DECADES collection interprets historical eyewear styles for the here and now. The distinctive aesthetic of the models stems from the translation of classic forms into a modern MYKITA construction.

LITE
The LITE collection is defined by modern silhouettes and pure constructions. Whether primarily made of sleek stainless steel or in a material mix with acetate, the reduced LITE design concept stands for supreme comfort in a refined aesthetic.

LESSRIM
A defined sense of transparency, pure and minimalistic: LESSRIM is ultimate refinement in eyewear. MYKITA reinterprets the traditional rimless concept with the help of latest advancements in surface treatment technology. Ultra-fine rims hold the lenses without the need for perforation. Only 0.5 millimetres wide, the stainless steel rim lies flush in the groove of the lens perimeter leaving a faintly shimmering outline.

THE STORY OF A NAME
Founded in Berlin in 2003, the first MYKITA premises were settled in a former children’s day care, called Kita in German. This inspired not only the name My Kita, but also our culture of curiosity and play. We started with a clear aesthetic vision and a readiness to do things ourselves.

COHERENT DESIGN
The clear design language at MYKITA starts with material integrity, emphasising the most appealing properties of the materials we work with. Our product design is straightforward – seeing how something is built has become the most recognisable feature of MYKITA frames. The first collection featured an openly displayed spiral hinge, a mechanical solution that became an incidental styling element and a hallmark of MYKITA frames. This original patented hinge represents the guiding principle for design at MYKITA: the technical solution must also be aesthetic.
